I watched him zoom past and surely it would be fair to reward him for his efforts somehow? He didn’t cheat, he overachieved I understand the organisers have to react because of rules, but the other athletes complaining are pretty mean spirited.
So long as he ran the same route, what difference does it make, he still beat all of you.I could understand it if he took the wrong turn and cut out some of the course or accidentally cheated, but he took the wrong turn and ended up running a longer race. Hardly a crime and should’ve been celebrated. If I was an athlete in that race I would’ve been asking for him to be kept in as I wouldn’t want to win knowing I was technically second place.Having got him disqualified the other athletes can rest easy knowing they were still slower than the fastest man on the day…they should give themselves a well deserved pat on the back! well done Omar! Hope this hits the national news and he gets the recognition he deserves for continuing to run – he would have known at some point it was going on too long.. shame his competitors couldnt congratulate him BBC
